The Wizard of Oz

Follow the yellow brick road with students of Appoquinimink High School and Bunker Hill. Elementary School as they present the classic story about Dorothy and her dog Toto as they travel far away from their Kansas home and explore the Land of Oz. Along the way, they meet Glinda the Good Witch, the Citizens of Munchkinland, a Scarecrow in search of a brain, a Tin Man pining for a heart and a Lion who wishes for courage. Will they be able to defeat the Wicked Witch of the West in order to convince the great and powerful Wizard of Oz to grant their wishes? Will Dorothy and Toto get back home to Kansas?

Mark Twain’s beloved classic takes us back to old “Muddy Waters” as Huck Finn and the runaway Jim escape down the mighty Mississippi River in search of freedom.

Outdoorsman Expo

Outdoor Rod and Gun enthusiasts (fishing and hunting), as well as campers and boaters, are invited to come enjoy an evening event and dinner. There will be outdoor product exhibitors on hand, a scrumptious meal of Sussex County Chicken and Slippery Dumplings with all the fix'ns will be served (ham will be available as an alternative), a silent auction and door prizes will be awarded.

Native Plants of Spring

Native plants of the Eastern Temperate Forest are beautiful, inspiring, and critically important for healthy landscapes. From the subdued colors and fragrances of spring wildflowers to the exuberance of summer perennials and the captivating hues of fall foliage, discover a wealth of plants that satisfy your gardening needs throughout the seasons. Using Mt. Cuba Center’s stunning gardens, learn to identify 60 trees, shrubs, and herbaceous perennials in each Native Plants course. Examine their key identifying characteristics, preferred growing conditions, overall size, and ecological significance. Students seeking a Certificate in Ecological Gardening must take the onsite exam.

Annual Bunny Palooza 5K / 1M

Fast and flat. 5k is one loop ending on Bethany Beach Boardwalk and the one mile non competitive walk starts at Garfield and Atlantic Ave and does one loop with finish on the boardwalk. Post Event at Mangos, Bethany Beach - This is included for all participants. Non participants can purchase a wrist band for $5.
